After completing his basic Graduation in Commerce from Gogte College of Commerce in Belgaum, ventured into a hitherto new business of transportation in 1993 in a small way and now a decade later, is proud to be one of the leading Transporters, Exporters of Iron Ore and the biggest Logistics provider with a group turnover of more than 200 Crores.

BUSINESS DESCRIPTION:
PVG ventured into Handling and Transportation work of M.O.P. for Zuari Industries Ltd. at Goa which is the main raw material for their plant and which is required to be shifted round the clock. After the conversion of meter gauge into broad gauge, he got an opportunity to get into this business. He has also done Handling & Transportation of high value products like Pig Iron, Low Ash Metallurgical Coke, etc. PVG is also successfully carrying on transportation of Iron Ore in the rugged and dangerous terrain of the ghats of Goa under adverse climatic and road conditions and was the pioneer in commencing transportation from the Hospet, Sandur, Bellary belt directly by Road which was hitherto considered impossible. This was done as the Railway movement was insufficient to meet the demand in this sector. Facing many difficulties and odds he commenced this transport which is today in full swing.

Apart from Handling and Transportation with Sesa and Zuari Groups he moved into Logistics and Exports. He has individually set up and managed this business and is proud to say that today his Brand Name PVG has become a household name in Hospet, Sandur, Ramnagar, Mangalore, Joida, Tinaighat, in Karnataka and Molem, Tisca, Sanquelim in Goa basically due to the direct and indirect employment provided and substantial boost given to other ancillary areas. PVG is considered as one of the most reliable, fastest and best Logistics solutions provider. He owns more than 250 Tippers of his own apart from which more than 1500 trucks & tippers are attached. Also about 20 loaders are used for manual and mechanical unloading of wagons. We have total six weigh bridges at various places in Tinaighat, Papinaikanhalli and Yeshwantnagar. We have got our own plots at Ginigera (in front of KFIL) with 10 lakh tons storage capacity, Tinaighat (near Railway siding) with 5 lakh tons capacity, Yeshwantnagar with 5 lakh tons capacity, Papinaikkanhalli with 5 lakh tons capacity, Mollem with 2 lakh tons capacity, Mangalore with 50,000 tons capacity, Ingalgi, H.B. Camp. The initial beginning of Iron Ore Movement started on meter gauge, wherein wagons of about 650 tons a rake were transported. Today with the conversion into broad gauge each rake loaded is of about 3,800 tons. PVG handled and transported 5 Million tons in the year 2004-05. He attributes all these achievements in such a short span to his hard work, dedication, transparency in dealings, sticking to commitments, unstinting support of his family, staff, sub-contractors, faith and support of his customers and blessings of Almighty.

In 2003-04, due to the boom in the Iron Ore Industry, another new avenue opened up to him i.e. Exports to China. He has successfully completed 3 shipments during 2003-04, 4 shipments during 2004-05 and 3 shipments in the current year 2005-06.

Apart from his own exports, he has also tied up with M/s. V.M. Salgaocar & Bros. Pvt. Ltd., Goa for joint export of Ore which till date has been to the tune of more than 5 lac tons.

PVG was started in 1993 by the proprietor, Mr. Prasanna V Ghotage, with a focus on providing logistics suppport for movement of raw materials like high grade Iron - Ore, and has its central operations base in Tinaighat, Karnataka, India. Under the able and dynamic leadership of Mr. Prasanna V Ghotage, PVG today has grown into an organisation of over 1000 employees and workers, and has offices in Hospet, Tinaighat and Goa, with over 250 self owned transport vehicles, and an additional 1000 attached vehicles, PVG excels in delivering Iron-Ore at the right time and the right quantity.
